The foundation of this now desperate quarterback situation at Texas is based on a series of untruths. Or, to be politically correct, changes of heart.

Vince Young promised for the months that he'd return for his senior season at Texas. It took him all of four days to change his mind after an electrifying performance in the Rose Bowl. His decision leaves the national champion Longhorns in a precarious situation.

Though McCoy likely will open spring practice as Texas' quarterback, he will be pushed by freshman Jevan Snead, who committed to Florida in May but reneged and committed to Texas in November.

Now that Young has made his intentions clear--thus giving the Texas staff a month to re-recruit the position--there could be other changes of heart. The possibility of starting for the defending national champions and throwing to talented receivers Limas ...
