(From Burnley Express)
Eccleshall 1 Padiham 3 PADIHAM completed a third successive North West Counties Second Division away wins on Saturday when they beat Eccleshall at the Pershall Park Ground and moved third in the league as a result.
A confident start by the Storks saw them completely dominate the opening 20 minutes of the game, but fail to turn their possession into goals.
Paul Fildes saw his fifth minute close range shot bravely saved by Eccleshall keeper Richard Johnson.
New signing Kenny Mayers then headed inches over from a Liam Denning free kick, and on 12 minutes an almighty goalmouth scramble in the 18 yard box saw Padiham hit the Eccleshall crossbar, and then miss a golden opportunity when Craig Worthington failed to connect with a loose ball just two yards out with the goal beckoning.
Worthington almost made amends for his miss on 15 minutes, heading just wide from a Fildes cross.
Eccleshall's first real shot in anger came about in the 22nd minute when James Dunn picked up a cross from the left and powered in a shot that Storks keeper Rob Batty had to be at his best to save.
