No disrespect to the Colts or Seahawks or any other playoff team, but I don't see how anybody but the Patriots can be considered the favorite to win the Super Bowl this year.
For starters, they're the two-time defending champs. More than any other team, they know what it takes to win in the postseason. But it goes beyond that.
When it comes to devising a game plan or making a key decision in the heat of battle, is there any coach you'd rather have than Bill Belichick?
If it comes down to a field goal, is there any kicker you'd rather have than Adam Vinatieri?
If it comes down to a key drive in bad weather, in a hostile environment or under the most intense pressure, is there any quarterback you'd rather have than Tom Brady?
I didn't think so.
Brady carried the team when the defense was depleted by injury, his running backs were falling like flies and the left side of his line was in shambles. He responded with perhaps his best season, including a league- and career-high 4,110 yards passing. When you watch Brady play, understand you're watching one of the greatest quarterbacks ever.
