Gibsons Steakhouse, Chicago. Gibsons is no stranger to high-profile diners--actor Jack Nicholson once called while on a flight from Paris to Chicago to place his order so it would be ready when he arrived. But during the first week of June, while the Chicago predraft camp is taking place, this Rush Street staple becomes the NBA's Midwest headquarters. Typically, executives from 15 to 20 teams will order helpings of steak nightly (and just as many will cross the street to Tavern on Rush for postdinner drinks).

When agent Marc Cornstein visits Chicago for the four days of predraft camp, he spends four nights eating at Gibsons. "My wife gets mad at me," Cornstein says. "She wants to try other places. But half the league is there. Being there gives you a sense of what is going on. ...
