Highridge are keeping their feet on the ground after going top of the Gloucestershire County League.

The Lakemead Grove-based side were champions in 1999-2000, but finished fifth last season.

They have climbed to the summit of the division after completing the double over Almondsbury including a 3-0 win on Saturday, goals coming from Mike Berry (2) and Lee Scadding.

"We are now leaders of the division but we are just taking it one game at a time," said secretary Keith Swift.

Highridge host Ellwood tomorrow while Almondsbury are at Hardwicke.

Almonds keeper Chris Coles faces five weeks on the sidelines after damaging knee ligaments, so Greg Stephens makes his debut.
