PRAGUE, Jan 1 (CTK) - Four percent of Czech fathers have in the past interrupted their job or business for at least one month to look after a child under four years of age all the day, and only some of them received the parental allowance, a survey by the Labour and Social Affair Research Institute has shown.

The survey was conducted on selected families with at least one child under 10.

The answers of the questioned showed that the parental leave of men is still considered something exceptional by parents, and only one third of them said it is in order if the man stays at home looking after children while the woman has a job.

According to the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry 270,000 people, including 3200 men, received the parental allowance destined for persons taking care of small children throughout the day in 2004.
