SEOUL, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - Ssangyong Motor Co. (KSE:003620), South Korea's fourth-largest automaker, said Monday its vehicle sales rose 4.2 per cent on-year in 2005, helped by strong exports.
Ssangyong Motor sold a total of 141,306 vehicles last year, the company said in a regulatory filing. Exports surged 80.5 per cent annually to 67,763 units, but domestic sales fell 25 per cent to 73,543 units.
Last December alone, exports gained 19.9 per cent year-on-year to 5,754 units, and domestic sales jumped 49.9 per cent to 9,544 units, according to the filing.
