SEOUL, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - The South Korean bourse is expected to reopen on a strong note in the coming year on the back of hopes of a bullish market, analysts said.
More attention should be paid to whether the corporate earnings to be released starting in the second week of January would stoke upward momentum of the market, they said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) ended at 1,379.37 on Thursday, the year's last trading day, up 54.34 per cent from the year's first session.
The key index stretched the year's gains to a record on hopes of an economic recovery in 2006 and strong corporate earnings in the current fourth quarter.
Kim Jung-hyun, an analyst at Goodmorning Shinhan Securities Co. said that the market will keep an eye on corporate performances at the beginning of the year.
