] MARITIME AND COASTGUARD AGENCY Duty4 CLIFF FALLER AIRLIFTED TO SAFETY
Northern Police Control in Inverness contacted Stornoway Coastguard at 10:31 this morning saying that a member of the public had reported hearing cries for help coming from the foreshore near Braes of Ullapool, Loch Broom. The Ullapool Coastguard Rescue Team was dispatched to the area and located a man who had fallen some 40 feet onto the beach.
As the man was in an inaccessible location the Stornoway based Coastguard Rescue Helicopter was sent to the scene and lowered a crewman to the casualty. After his injuries had need assessed the casualty was airlifted to a near-by landing site where he was passed into the care of Scottish Ambulance staff before being transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment.
