Beautiful people in beautiful places. That's what Slim Aarons captured in his photographs, and that's exactly what comes to mind when you look at Jenni Kayne's nostalgic spring collection: a sunny, spectacular fairy-tale ending.
Inspired by beach life and Aarons's portraits, Kayne's lace linen skirts, crisp shorts, and collared blouses are just the thing you might imagine a young C. Z. Guest wearing beside a very blue pool at the Villa Artemis in Palm Beach circa 1960.
An Angeleno through and through, Kayne launched her self-named label in 2003, when she was just 21. She is adamant, though, that her age does not limit her audience: "It's not about a demographic," she says. "Everyone from my seventeen-year-old sister to my 60-something mother and her friends, who buy the knits and suits, wears it."
