Golden Girl
I knew Gwen Stefani from Anaheim, California, before the fame, and feel both proud and protective of her. I applaud Deanna Kizis, but I feel she may have come away with a skewed view of Gwen ["Grand Slam," October]. Gwen is the sweetest and most natural person you will ever have the opportunity to meet. She is not a feminist icon, nor has she ever promised to be. She is a superstar, a wife, a daughter, and a regular girl who is learning to protect her personal life from the world. Once people stop trying so hard to find a deeper meaning to what Gwen does, they will have time to enjoy her hard work and her many talents.

I was really happy to see Gwen Stefani on your cover, but I don't understand why the article focused on her need for privacy instead of on her accomplishments. With stars today telling us every irrelevant detail, I think it's a classy move to hold some things back. Really, this is Allure, not Star.
