For the first time, the Fine Art Dealers Association (FADA) and 55 quality international dealers of antiques, decorative arts, jewelry, and more, from the 17th to 21st century, come together to create a unique "show within a show". January 5-8. Washington, DC. 51st WASHING-TON ANTIQUES SHOW. The theme of this year's show is Sweet Land of Liberty: Images of America in the Arts of the New Republic. As a result of a unique collaboration between the show and the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, this year's loan exhibition, Symbols of a New Nation, will display a representative array of artifacts and images drawn from the Museum's collections for its future exhibition, For Which It Stands: The American Flag in American Life. The show will feature 45 premiere antiques dealers from the United States, Canada, and Europe. Other highlights will include a talk by Leigh Keno on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon, a book signing, and early tours of the show on Thursday and Friday featuring talks by individual dealers designed to introduce the newcomer to the world of antiques and to intrigue the more seasoned collector.
