Margaret Lorince Endowment Fund Established
Following a generous bequest from the late Margaret Lorince, MTNA has established an endowment fund in her memory.
"Margaret was the driving force behind the Foundation's endowment funds," says MTNA Executive Director Gary Ingle. "It only seemed fitting to use the money from Margaret's estate to establish a fund in her name.
"My last meeting with her was at the Salt Lake City conference in 2003. She was there to be recognized as a FOUNDATION Fellow, but also because the FOUNDATION was considering a monumental decision for its future," Ingle adds. "Margaret was a stakeholder whose opinion mattered. At the conclusion of my presentation, she said, 'Gary, it's the right move.' And with her blessing, I knew we should proceed."
MTNA president from 1991 to 1993, Lorince held numerous other positions with MTNA, including Pedagogy Committee chair, MTNA FOUNDATION Trustee, chair of the MTNA FOUNDATION Board of Trustees and, most recently, a member of the Planned Giving Committee. In 2003, she was honored by MTNA as a FOUNDATION Fellow.
"Margaret Lorince had a knack for knowing not just how to do things right, but knowing the right things to do," says MTNA President Paul Stewart. "It's a powerful combination, and MTNA was the beneficiary of her skills."
Lorince held a B.A. degree from Oklahoma City University and an M.M. degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
