Southern Division.(Division News; Music Teachers National Association)(Brief Article)
The Florida State MTA is divided into nine district associations that contain 23 local associations. The districts divide the state geographically, providing annual workshops, competitions and conferences. Topics at district conferences include "Music IQ and You," by Vic Geiger; "Sensory Integration and How it Can Affect Learning in the Private Music Studio," by Nancy Shackelford; and "Opera: Passion, Preparation and Performance," by Ron Bowman. Other events included premieres of commissioned compositions, lecture recitals and Alexander Technique workshops.
This year 2,050 students participated in the annual District's Student Day throughout the state. Students were evaluated in written and aural theory, technical skills, keyboard harmony and repertoire. Three winners were selected from the senior ...
