Why do women make up more than half of today's students in law, medicine, dentistry and vet school, but only 30% of today's MBAs?
The answer is business schools' lack of female role models, according to a recent study done by Catalyst, a New York-based research and advisory group. It teamed up with the University of Michigan's School of Business and its Center for the Education of Women for the study.
In their survey of 1,684 female students from 12 top-rated business schools, more than half of the women said that the lack of women role models was the reason why more women don't pursue MBAs. And nearly 90% said that business schools should have more women business leaders to attract a more diverse student body.
