West Hull: A mother pleaded with a court to help treat her son's heroin addiction rather than send him to jail for burgling her home.

But her son, Alec Bache, of Zetland Street, was jailed for a year after pleading guilty to burglary at Hull Crown Court.

The 27-year-old entered the Starella Grove home of his mother, Suzanne Bache, on October 31. He took her door key after visiting to ask for money.

He returned later and took her television, video player and DVDs and pawned them at a nearby shop. He claimed he intended to retrieve them at a later date. He was arrested on November 8.
