Toppan Printing Co Ltd has produced the prototype of an electronic paper that can display still images in colour. Teaming with E Ink Corp, a US-based display system development start-up firm, the company developed a structure in which micron-size capsules are spread over a surface. The capsules contain particles developed by E Ink that reflect more light than typical particles. Electricity is used to move the particles, causing text and pictures to be displayed.
