LOS ANGELES -- Internet users say that going online creates political clout, a new USC Annenberg study reveals.

A comprehensive study of the impact of online technology by the USC Annenberg School Center for the Digital Future will be released Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005.

The study finds that for the first time, the number of users who say that the Internet can be used to gain political power has increased. Other key findings include:

- Internet use continues to increase

- E-mail reigns as most popular online activity

- Broadband reaches highest level for online access
