The glass ceiling isn't the only thing holding women back from leadership opportunities. There are mirrors, brick walls, see-through panels and a host of other negatives preventing us from reaching our true potential. Some are culturally defined and others are self-imposed.
Dr. Anita Pankake, a professor and director of the doctoral program in educational leadership at the University of Texas-Pan American, identified the barriers she's observed over her career while keynoting the University of Nebraska's Women in Educational Leadership conference held in Lincoln in October.
