Congratulations, my friend. If you're reading this, then somehow you have, for this brief moment, evaded the Holiday Shopping Season. Mind you, someone you know, maybe love, has been or is going to be up before sunrise at some point--probably over the Thanksgiving weekend--to get in line to get into a store to get into a frenzy of consumption.

It's Sam Walton's world, baby; we're just livin' in it (and paying his heirs for the privilege).

The Friday after Thanksgiving long has been called--say it with me--"the busiest shopping day of the year." (Pair it with the Sunday after Thanksgiving, which is called "the busiest travel day of the year," and surely you have the "busiestest" weekend of the year, but I digress.)

Some stand up to the fullcourt holiday shopping pressure. Like Hank Hill, the cartoon Texan (as if there were another kind, right?) on FOX who put his foot down and told his wife, Peggy, they were not going Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving weekend because, among other reasons, he might miss some football on TV. Sound familiar, my friend? Peggy gets me last say, however, in this cartoon tragicomedy: "Hank, the day after Thanksgiving is, in my opinion, the biggest shopping day of the year. And I will not spend another year giving Dallas Mavericks crap because the Cowboys stuff was all sold out."

If that puts the fear of God in you, then you should know we're here for you. Even if you don't have time to make a list and check it twice (really, it's OK to lust after--hell, it's encouraged to lust after--some of this stuff for yourself). Even if you're just trying to figure out how to get all your shopping done on Christmas Eve. The least we can do is this: offer you page after page of gifts--expensive and cheap, practical and fun, all sports-related and all lovingly uncovered by our crack crew of elves.

Read on, my friend. There has to be something you'll find that you can give instead of Dallas Mavericks crap.
