Byline: Mineral fertiliser supplier considers separate listing for its ammonia carriers as part of shipping division review, writes Tony Gray
Yara International, the leading supplier of mineral fertilisers, is considering a separate stock market listing for its large fleet of ammonia carriers.
A spokesman for the Norwegian group said an Oslo Stock Exchange quotation would be one option examined during a review of the shipping division's future role within the group.
Yara's fleet comprises 16 vessels varying in capacity from slightly below 10,000 cu m up to about 40,000 cu m.
A few vessels are wholly-owned, several are jointly owned, while the remainder are chartered-in on a long- or short-term basis.
Yara said it was the largest independent vessel operator in the ammonia segment with a total capacity of about 400,000 cu m.
