SOUTHEAST Asian shipowners say patrols in the Malacca Strait have put a stop to piracy in the key waterway.
The Federation of Asean Shipowners' Associations, which has been vocal about regional governments' failure to address piracy in the strait, says it is now safe.
There were no reports of piracy incidents in the Malacca Strait during the third quarter of 2005, the FASA said following its 31st annual meeting in Singapore.
