The Towergate Partnership will launch its new venture capital arm in January, with a war chest of GBP50m.
The operation, which will target small buys, has yet to be branded, although the broking giant is toying with the name: Cullum Capital Ventures, after chairman Peter Cullum.
Plans to launch the operation were first revealed to Post Magazine in August by acquisitions director Tony Proverbs (PM, 4 August, p1).
Chief executive Andy Homer said the arm would complement Towergate's strategy in 2006 to target large acquisitions - having already set the tone by snapping up underwriting agency Fusion in November.
