SEOUL, Dec 1 Asia Pulse - South Korean manufacturers' business confidence inched down for December, according to a central bank survey released Thursday.
The business survey index (BSI), a barometer of manufacturers' business expectations, fell to 86 this month from 87 in November and October, the Bank of Korea (BOK) said.
A reading below the benchmark 100 means that pessimists outnumbered optimists. The poll was conducted on 1,468 manufacturers from Nov. 14-23.
The BSI for companies' assessment of current economic conditions also remained below the benchmark by posting 84 in November, but was up slightly from 83 in the previous month.
South Korea's economy, Asia's fourth-largest, is seen as struggling to pull itself out of a two-year slump on increasing private spending and resilient exports, although speculation persists about the pace of recovery.
