The late American society matron and soprano Florence Foster Jenkins was the Ed Wood of opera, possessed of all the qualities of a great diva except one: an ability to hit the right note. This month, at the Lyceum, Jenkins's indomitable spirit and incapable vocal cords are being channeled by the splendid Judy Kaye in the comic two-hander Souvenir. As Kaye manhandles such standards as "The Bell Song," from Lakme, her only worry, she says, is "making make sure I don't accidentally veer into the proper key."
