A million pound lottery cash injection will lift the efforts of four leading charity organisations to improve the quality of access for people with disabilities and their families. The charities are sharing in GBP1,026,243 in new grants announced today from the Big Lottery Fund's Strategic funding stream.
The Sensory Trust is one of the groups set to expand its innovative work plans by taking people with varying disabilities, into a range of exciting venues, including the Eden Project in Cornwall. Organised trips will allow disabled people to engage more fully with environments around them, that they might not otherwise get such full access too.
Lottery funding will also help to develop the dedicated work of Shared Care Network, Aidis Trust and DIAL UK. A total of 27 grants worth GBP7,258,900 are being rolled out this round, bringing the total funds allocated through the Strategic programme since November 2002 to more than GBP301million benefiting 1,466 schemes across the UK.
The Sensory Trust will receive GBP166,000 for a project that will help improve access to the natural environment and open spaces. People...
