The U.S. Government's Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has passed the digital television (DTV) bill that fixes April 7, 2009, as the deadline for migrating from analog broadcasting to digital transmission. The bill lists conditions that will guide the redistribution of spectrum for commercial use as well as for official emergency communication. The conditions will also include guidelines for subsidizing certain DTV conversions.
