Telecom major Verizon Wireless has requested the U.S. Government's Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to extend the 2005-end deadline for provision of enhanced E911 services. As per the FCC order, carriers are expected to make available automatic location-based 911 emergency service to 95 percent of their customers by the end of the current year.
