A new day is rising in America thanks to Strattera, the first drug designed to treat Adult Attention Deficit Disorder. No longer will parents be forced to trudge responsibly through life policing their own personal behavior while their pill-popping children drift blithely on a cloud of mood-altering medication.
For a mere $2.85 per pill, and the willingness to deal with the drug's most common side effects, "constipation, dry mouth, nausea, decreased appetite, problems sleeping, sexual side effects, problems urinating, and menstrual cramps," parents can finally even the playing field with their children. Pharmaceutical manufacturer Eli Lilly recently unveiled three heart-rending commercials to introduce the world to Strattera.
First up is "Rona's Story," the tale of a medical student unable to pass her exams. Despite the fact that she got through all of high school and college with grades good enough to get into med school sans drugs, her doctor's diagnosis is ADD.
"We can't let our circumstances define us," Rona says into the camera. "I mean, the difference between a stumbling block and a stepping stone is how you move your feet, and I chose to take the diagnosis of ADD and run. I left my doctor's office with a prescription and a mission."
Big-muscled construction worker Joe found himself on a similar mission. Joe's wife Robin explains why her husband needed Strattera. "Nothing was getting done.
