After a disappointing showing in last season's playoffs, first-team All-NBA forward Dirk Nowitzki spent part of his summer helping Germany to a second-place finish in the European championships, where he was named MVP. Now it's back to Dallas, where he's the last of the once-formidable Big Three.

Q: You became a vocal leader last season, to the point that against the Suns in the playoffs, you were yelling at Jason Terry. But in the end, you were the one who didn't deliver in overtime. What did you learn from that experience?

A: I lost control of myself a couple times in the playoffs. I have to keep cooler in the future.
