Heading into the second half of the season, the Southern California Trojans are right where they were a year ago--the most talented team in the country. But still they tend to struggle in games they shouldn't before eking out wins (Stanford, 2004; Notre Dame, 2005).
Don't buy into the nonsense that USC doesn't play in a tough conference and shouldn't be rewarded for it. The Pac-10 isn't the SEC; so what? The Trojans have wins over Oregon (6-1) and Notre Dame (5-2), and still have games against California (6-2) and UCLA (7-0) looming. I'd put that schedule against anyone in the Rose Bowl race.
