THE mother of EuroMillions lottery winner Dolores McNamara was granted her dying wish yesterday when she was laid to rest in her native city.
Limerick-born Betty O'Donovan was flown home from New York to be buried after losing her battle with cancer last Friday. Like the rest of the family, the great-grandmother shared in the jubilation just three months ago when her daughter Dolores scooped 115m in Europe's biggest lottery.
A native of Garryowen, in Limerick city, Mrs O'Donovan had lived in New York for the past few years but, just like her millionairess daughter, she always thought of Limerick as her only real home and one of her final wishes was to be buried there.
Since her massive windfall, Dolores has continued to live in her modest bungalow home and, despite looking for a bigger house, the mother-of-six has constantly expressed her desire to stay in Limerick.
