Harry Potter has made wearing spectacles cool for children but 17% of parents here say they worry about the psychological effects glasses will have on their youngster.

Nearly half of parents surveyed (48%) have real concerns about taking their child to visit the optician.

The survey by Specsavers found out they are loathe to take their children for a eye test because of the cost involved.

However, their financial worry is unfounded as children under 12 are entitled to a free eye test ...
