Cutting-edge research nets award for BioClin.

BIOCLIN Research Laboratories Ltd (BioClin), an Athlone-based contract research company that exports 85pc of its services, has been awarded the Ulster Bank Commercial Services/Irish Independent Business Achievers Award for October.
BioClin has recently been selected as a partner in two large EU-funded (framework six) clinical research consortiums in the areas of prostate and breast cancer.
Founded by Mary Burke and Dr Brian McKenna, BioClin specialises in niche laboratory services supporting product development from discovery through to product registration.
BioClin assists companies to accelerate their research products, through the development and approval process, resulting in considerable cost and time savings. It employs twenty people with an annual turnover of approximately 2m. It holds the prestigious, OECD-backed, good laboratory practice certificate and is also one of the leading US Federal Drug Agency-compliant contract research laboratories in Europe.
