Provost Madeline Wake is enforcing diversity recruitment policies at Marquette University WI. She directed that no proposed hire for a full-time faculty job at the Jesuit school will be approved unless there was at least one "diverse" candidate in the pool. Diverse includes instructors from other parts of the world and non-white Americans.

Marquette's faculty is 90% white, and this year's freshman class is 85% white. "The world is diverse," she said. "And we as a university are not preparing leaders for the world as it is if we remain as white of a campus as we are."
