Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher has said that he and his administration view drug and alcohol abuse in the state as a "public health epidemic" and a leading contributor to homelessness and domestic violence, reported the Lexington Herald-Leader on October 9. The administration has announced its plans to increase rehabilitation efforts, including at least four new centers planned throughout the state and six more likely to follow.
