Jean-Louis Beffa, chairman of the French materials and packaging group Saint-Gobain, said yesterday that his group will dispose of some of the assets of BPB, the UK plasterboard company, within 18 months if its takeover bid for that entity succeeds. The assets in question, he stressed, will only be sold at a good price. Mr Beffa also said that Saint-Gobain and BPB have common growth prospects in Eastern Europe and China. …
