I'M NOT A SOCCER MOM or a Little League morn. I'm a rope-jumping morn who's sometimes known as the Jump-Rope Lady. It's a label that brings me much gratification, and I wear it proudly.
It started almost three years ago, when my youngest daughter was new to school. She'd just started kindergarten at the same school her two older sisters had attended. But they were now in high school and middle school. For Corrie school was brand new, and for me it was like starting over again.
The playground two blocks from Corrie's elementary school, at which I'd spent endless afternoons with my two older girls, now felt a little strange. The equipment was the same, just slightly more weather-beaten. The beloved park attendant--who had been the glue that held the playground together, and to whom I'd grown close--had moved on to another park job.
