SARASOTA -- Carlie Brucia's killer tied her hands together and used a narrow cord to strangle her from behind, but it's likely the 11-year-old tried to fight off the man who sexually assaulted her, the county's medical examiner testified Monday.
Dr. Russell Vega described Carlie's last moments as jurors studied autopsy photos of her body, which had been dragged under a canopy of tree branches.
