Vietnam marks World Diabetes Day.

Section: Regional News - A meeting was held in Hanoi last Saturday by the Ministry of Health and the Central Endocrinology Hospital to mark World Diabetes Day (November 14).

Speaking at the meeting, director of the Central Endocrinology Hospital Ta Van Binh said that Vietnam now has around 2 million diabetics and most of them are not aware of the dangers of the disease. "The most difficult issue is that people lack knowledge about the disease," Mr Binh explained.

The meeting is an annual activity that aims to increase awareness among local people about preventing the disease effectively. After the meeting, doctors gave free consultations to participants relating to blood stream measurement, diets and physical exercise.
