Section: General News - A 18-month-old baby has been tested positive for avian influenza and is being treated at Siriraj Hospital, Director General of the Communicable Disease Control Department Thawat Suntrajarn has said.

The name of the boy from Bangkok's Klong Sam Wa district was not revealed but he was known to have had close contact with chickens that later died of bird flu. His 65-year-old grandmother also showed pneumonia-like symptoms but could not be confirmed as having bird flu, Thawat said.
