There's a misconception that meditation is about achieving mental blankness while sitting in a lotus position. In fact, the opposite is true. You're not tuning out as much as you're tuning in to how you're thinking and feeling.
i Check your breath. Most meditative traditions use breath as the basis for relaxation because it's always available to you. Before you can start to decompress, you need to analyze your breathing. If you're emotionally agitated or anxious, it may be rapid or shallow. If you're angry, you might be holding your breath entirely.
