The Bulgarian grandmaster Veselin Topalov has won the version of the World Championship sponsored by Fide, the World Chess Federation. It was held in San Luis, Argentina and the Bulgarian led from start to finish. It was a convincing performance and Topalov could, in fact, have extended his lead since he missed wins against both Morozevich and Anand.
