Germany's biomass-to-liquids (BTL) diesel developer Choren Industries recently finalized an earlier deal for Shell to take a minority stake in its company. The deal "sets the stage for construction of the world's first commercial facility" to convert biomass to zero-sulfur, high-cetane Fischer-Tropsch diesel, Shell said. The partners earlier signed a letter of intent to fund construction of a 15,000 tons/year demonstration plant in Freiburg, Germany.
