BEIJING, November 08, SinoCast -- China United Telecommunications Corporation (China Unicom) plans to put the CDMA handsets equipped with electronic navigation system into commercial use nationwide by 2006, according to Wang Xinggang, a senior official at the company.
The country's second largest telecom operator has launched such services in 51 cites, in the wake of a trial operation in Beijing before the National Day holiday.
By 2007, the Beijing-based company will equip all the CDMA handsets it sells with such navigation system, making it one of its major value-added services.
