TRUTH: After starting strong and logging some of his best numbers in years, Thibault wore down last season, forcing coach Brian Sutter to turn to G Steve Passmore in the playoffs. Thibault's slide fostered rumors about G.M. Mike Smith searching for goaltending help in the offseason and led Sutter to become more interested in steady Norfolk G Michael Leighton at training camp. Leighton, who might already be in the NHL if not for chronic groin muscle injuries, could play some this season.
