The Red Wings are a determined bunch.
In 1996-97, they were determined to end their 42-year Stanley Cup drought. They did. The next season they were determined to win a Cup for defenseman Vladimir Konstantinov, who had been seriously injured in a limousine accident. They did.
Last year the Red Wings were determined to win for Dominik Hasek, Luc Robitaille, Steve Duchesne and Fredrik Olausson, who had combined for 59 NHL seasons and 3,877 games but zero Stanley Cups. They did.
This season the team is determined to win for goalie Curtis Joseph and new coach Dave Lewis, who took over for the legendary Scotty Bowman.
