Brett Romberg is hungry. He's always hungry, but his stomach is growling a little louder than usual at this moment. He hasn't had lunch yet, and it's well past 1 p.m.

Romberg peers from beneath a baseball cap pulled down tightly upon his head. A shock of dirty blond hair juts from under his cap, covering the back of his thick neck. A tuft of facial hair on the chin adds a touch of menace to his face as he closely studies the Cheesecake Factory menu. Stuffed behind a narrow table, the 6-3, 290-pound starting center for the Miami (Fla.) football team is a striking contrast among the dainty ladies eating $7 slices of cheesecake.
