The budget mandate opened the door for free-agent carnage, with SF Rodney Rogers, SG Erick Strickland, C Mark Blount and PF Walter McCarty on the outs. Then came the trade of C Vitaly Potapenko and PGs Kenny Anderson and Joseph Forte to the Sonics for PF Vin Baker and PG Shammond Williams.
