It's going to happen, not this season, but sometime this decade. The Cubs and White Sox are going to return to the postseason. One or both will win a playoffs series, maybe even the World Series, overcoming profit-driven owners, inexperienced general managers and suspect managers.

At some point, this has to end. At some point, talent will prevail. The Cubs and White Sox not only operate two of the game's most productive farm systems but also boast star-caliber major leaguers. Most teams would salivate over the Cubs' nucleus of Kerry Wood, Mark Prior and Sammy Sosa or the White Sox's nucleus of Mark Buehrle, Paul Konerko and Magglio Ordonez.
